Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome back to Clearwood Junior High School and a new school year.  It is an honor and privilege to serve as Principal, positively impacting the lives of students on a daily basis.  I will continue to build strong and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.  We will follow the district theme, “Be a Champion”.  You are encouraged to be a for our students, staff, administration, school, and community.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the new families who have moved into the area.  We hope that you will find that our school is safe, focused on academic growth, and provides a variety of fun experiences. We are excited about the opportunities this year holds.  Again, welcome from our entire school’s faculty and staff at Clearwood.

Last year, students were exposed to an overview of Leader in Me, and evidenced based model that builds leadership and life skills, creates a high-trust culture, and lays the foundation for sustained achievement.  This year we will delve deeper into each of the 7 habits of Highly Effective People.  They include:

Habit 1: Be Proactive (You're in Charge)
Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First. Then Play)
Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen Before You Talk)
Habit 6: Synergize (Together Is Better)
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)

There will also be an opportunity for parents to learn more about Leader in Me.  Parents, we have an active and committed Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) that supports our teachers and school.  They are instrumental in planning fun-filled activities and events for our students and their families throughout the year.  Many of our PTSA volunteers work full-time jobs.  You do not have to participate in all events.  We believe many hands make light work.  I encourage you to join our PTSA, attend meetings, and become involved.  Please commit to at least one event and give it your all.

Again, we are committed to partnering with families to positively impact the students here at Clearwood.  Here is to an impressive and successful school year together!

Sincerely,

Principal, Tania Woods
